Tiger’s Lost Ball
I want to really quickly address on
Rules issue Tiger ran into today.
Tiger’s ball on the 17th hole plugged into the bank and was
never found after his tee shot.
Some may wonder why he was not permitted to drop two club-lengths away
from the hazard line as it was marked as a lateral water hazard.
The
answer is simple: there was no virtual certainty that the ball was in the
hazard, nor was the any certainty that the ball had last crossed the margin of
the hazard at that point. Because
the ball was not found within five minutes and there was no virtual certainty
that the ball was in the hazard, Tiger’s only option was to proceed under
stroke and distance by hitting his third stroke from the teeing ground.
New Poll
There
is a new poll available on FarbTalk!
Weigh in on the subject of bifurcation. Should there be two different sets of Rules? Or is golf the greatest game because
everyone who plays must play by one single set of Rules? You tell me.
